Klondike Derby 2008
This year's Klondike Derby will be held at the Point Sebago Resort in Casco, Maine on Saturday February 2nd, 2008. The equipment list will be available on the Casco Bay District Website next week. Casco Bay Chapter of the Order of the Arrow prepares to help you in your quest to find the lost treasure of the dreaded pirate John Trott. This event will be open to all Webelos Scouts so this is a great opportunity for our Troops and Packs to work together to on Crossover. For more information contact John Trott at

Pinewood Derby Rules **Notice of Date Change**
The official rules for the Pinewood Derby races are posted on the Casco Bay Website. These will be the rules for the District Derby to be run in March 29, 2008 at the Jordan Small School in Raymond. For more information please contact Tony Bessey

Order of the Arrow Elections
The OA Election season will be from January 1st to April 15th, 2008. Our goal is to have 100% sign-up from our Boy Scout Troops by January 31st, 2008. If you would like to schedule an OA Election please feel free to contact John Trott at

Unit Friends of Scouting Presentations
The District Committee is hoping to have 100% of our units signed up for FOS presentations for 2008 by 12/31/2007. This year we are making a lot of changes to the Friends of Scouting Program. Presentations will be limited to 7 to 10 minutes each and all participants, even those who don't give, will be able to have an opportunity to earn an FOS Patch. District Award of Merit
This year's deadline for to submit District Award of Merit applications is the close of business April 4, 2008. Copies of the applications can be downloaded from the District Website.

Sea Scout Ship 12
Sea Scouts are part of the Venture Program. Ship 12 in South Portland is the only Sea Scout Ship in Maine. They are currently looking for scouts that are interested in joining the fun. University of Scouting
University of Scouting will be held April 5th, 2008 at the Central Maine Community College. We are asking all Scouters to save the date and we will have more information at the February Roundtable.

Winter Camp 2008
Winter Camp 2008 will be held at Camp Hinds from February 17th to the 22nd at the Rotary Training Center. If you are interested in participating in this program and would like more information please feel free to contact Matt Randall at 797-5252 ext. 21 or via email at
mrandall@bsamail.org Enrollment is limited to 32 scouts. Registration forms can be obtained at Roundtable, or at the Pine Tree Council or Casco Bay District websites.

Scout Family Ski Days
The winter is upon us and Scout Family Ski Days are back. The dates and resorts for this year's schedule are as follows: Shawnee Peak January 15, and March 2, 2008, Sunday River February 9th, 2008, Sugarloaf February 3rd, 2008 and Mt. Abram March 9, 2008. Information about the rules, dates and prices can be found at Round Table and at the Casco Bay District Website.

Youth Leadership Development Conference
Saturday January 5th, 2008 the Pine Tree Council will be holding a Youth Leadership Development Conference at the Pine Tree Council Service Center. This conference is open to all youth in the Council who are in High School. The registration is $18.00 and space is limited to 60 people. For more information, contact Mike Dyer at

2007 Centennial Quality Awards Due by 1/12/2007
Unit Commissioner Dan Dwyer will be calling the unit leaders for all units that have not filled out a 2007 Centennial Quality Unit award. We are still trying to qualify as many units as possible for the award and have been given the opportunity to keep working towards our goal because the program was not properly executed. Dan will also be taking point for the 2008 Centennial Quality Unit Award for recharter.

FOS presenters needed
The District Committee is looking for volunteers who would like to be 2008 Friends of Scouting Presenters. This year all presenters will be able to take part in a training to learn about all the exciting changes to our Council Friends of Scouting program. The Casco Bay District has 77 traditional units and if each presenter does two or three presentations we would need a total of 28 presenters.
